#CANADA #PacificCoastal #Comox #Saab340A
This story is dedicated to the young guy piloting us down the south, well done
The trip in one word:
MARVELLOUS
"How about to connect Vancouver International Airport with the hotel downtown?. That´s the theme around this story!".
Hello, dear readers,
we are now half way through the Canada trip.
And there is something more coming up also today:
Thanx once again to:
http://www.gcmap.com/
A well nights sleep at the Best Western Plus The Westerly Hotel and Convention Center, what a name, in Comox, Vancouver Island, British Columbia and breakfast is ready
A young guy managed by the hotel shuttles us for the airport, ready to fly just a little bit more.
Wednesday, 21.08.2013
YQQ (Comox Valley Airport)
YVR (Vancouver International Airport)
Service 8P 703 operated by Pacific Coastal Airlines

Well, just for the case you make you´re way for the airport by bike, that´s the place to leave it here
The K´omoks Nation welcomes you, for sure a nice intro
And also the weather looks like good to fly today
Our heli is gone, so we should take the next one!
No military and also no Central Mountain Air today
This ticket is fixed with the companies website directly.
The fare is 70.00 Euro´s. No OLCI available.
A relaxed elder woman staffed the counter with no one else beside us here that early for local conditions!.
And also the security check is not that really busy to say the least
There is no lounge on offer.
Central Mountain Air on the way, see you!
And Pacific Coastal is the airline of choice today,
just for a bit variety
Looks like nice with the themed logo, isn´t it?
This is C-GPCN, the scheduled Saab 340A, another one of the ever growing no-name fleet, new to the log and leg no. 6 on type.
Oldies anyone?. But believe me, more to come this way!.
In the air since 12.07.1985 with Northwest Express Airlines, Mesaba and also Pacific Coastal.
5 planes on type are in the fleet and here is a story:
http://aviation-safety.net/wikibase/wiki.php?id=150678
Just a minute or two after the arrival boarding from gate 2
is called right away.
09.40 am, as ontime as possible, "Pasco" and 25 minutes from the fairly long enough 1524 meters runway "Three-Six"
at 16 sunny degrees.
Bye now to the "Comox Valley Airport".
Under the wing, you know, not that easy with the Saab´s!
There is a young blonde female FA on this service, nice.
Cockpit crew is from Canada introduced by the FA and the captain himself is on the mike with detailed informations inflight in a relaxed style.
No route info, fligthlevel is just 9000 feet
Marvellous views again, well, at least for the middle European traveller
Snowy peaks
And the engine at work
Service, sure ok here and the well loaded cabin.
80% with us in the second to last row. Free seating it is and no seat markers at all to notice
Oldfashioned dark blue, well used leather seats, the legroom is just acceptable.
YQQ is just a short pitstop from somewhere more northern
and I´am sure this flight carries not only the standard 8P code. It is also sold as a special fresh fish transport.
At least it smells penetrating this way inside the cabin
Ah, the Pacific Coastal Cowboy!
And also the safety card
Straight on the way
Straight?. Are you sure?
Marvellous views, isn´t it?
Touchdown at the 3030 meters "Two-Six-Right". 10.10 am what means short ahead to schedule at 18 sunny degrees, perfect.
Welcome back to the "Vancouver International Airport" with
some interesting aircraft on the apron
Like this one with the three holes
Bye now to Pacific Coastal, at least for today!
And yes, these planes looking like good in the bright sun
Not to talk about the magic three engines!
So, we are at Vancouver´s South Terminal right now, well located to reach the hotel to spend the night downtown.
This is possible by train, by bus, by taxi, by shuttle with several companies or also by plane!.
Soon to come up here, hopefully.
