No, I´am not wrong, this is the airport, really!
Where are the travellers?.
This ticket is fixed with Opodo, together with the second leg and also the Rail and Fly Service. The fare for this leg this way is 115.00 Euro´s. OLCI works also with several tries for the first leg only,
A nice young woman fixed it manually at the desk in the end and so I hold both boarding passes for today in my hands, sounds good, isn´t it?
This part of the terminal looks like modern
Swiftly through security and for a view to the deserted apron. Ok, beside this as the one and only plane out there.
SU for SVO has left earlier, no lounge on offer by the way
So, here are the pax!. A good number around gate 6, looks like a well loaded early morning service and soon thereafter on the bus for the free apron tour
So, this is UR-GAQ, no individual name to notice, a 737-300, warm welcomed when you know that an E90 was on the original schedule.
Leg no. 55 on type and a new entry to the log
First in service with Western Pacific Airlines from 27.06.1997, later on with Olympic and further to the Ukraine. 6 300´s are in the fleet.
Stories to show?. Not here!
Boarding now, also for me!
Cockpit crew is from the Ukraine, an experienced "капітан" at the left hand seat with a nice welcome on the ground in the very same experienced style. And once again inflight. No route info, flightlevel is 28000 feet.
Leaving the "Міжнародний аеропорт Харків-Kharkiv International Airport" at
7.15 am, ten minutes late, 50 minutes now by "Ukraine International" from the 2500 meters runway "Zero-Seven". 2 negative degrees, fog and a super chilly wind. Where is my fur hat?.
Blue oldfashioned leather seats, well used to say the least and the legroom is ok here
A classic birds cabin view. The load is 100%, no open seat to spot, lots of families with kids vacationeer style.
Well, the nice guy I am, you know, gave up his last row window to an Ukrainian father who is eager to sit beside his wife or who knows and kid, 18C in the end for me and that´s ok this early, foggy morning
Cabin crew is three women, a really nice, yes for sure, middle aged cute, not that large one with a supernice welcome at the planes door, late boarding you know, time for a chat and also with a really nice bye-bye later on, too.
One younger blonde with an somewhat stressed impression and another young, brown hair, cute and nice. Well maintained or not and the safety card
Oh, yes, certainly well maintained!
Service on the go with free water, coffee, tea and soon thereafter we reached "Boryspil International Airport
Міжнародний аеропорт Бориспіль" at the 4000 meters runway "One-Eight-Left". 08.20 am, 15 minutes late, wet and 2 positive degrees here
Bye now for the "Aviakompaniya Mizhnarodni Avialiniyi Ukrayiny", really?
What should I do now for 2.40 hours here?
Good to see someone taking care about my plane´s engine, really?
Better here than in the air, isn´t it?
Ok, onwards for the terminal
There is a passport check in a small area on the ground floor for all the domestic pax on transfer to international flights and it seems not only my service was well loaded, some 30 minutes to wait till it was my turn.
Passport on the desk, the officer with a view to the document and soon thereafter a long view to me.
No I´am not a criminal or a something else addict. It´s just me, the lonely western traveller on the hunt for the special experience.
Than he smiles and explained that he was really surprised to see his own stamp in my passport.
Strange, isn´t it, with a thousand of pax and several officers on duty it was the very same guy during my first ever visit to Kiew in September last year!.
Ok, up the escalator only to see a thousand more people around.
Lucky me, so it seems, they are waiting at the transfer counter and it later turned out that UIA experienced a system failure like my OLCI try with no check-in for connecting flights possible.
I feel sorry for all these people in the long queue. Well, walking relaxed till now along the queue around the corner only to see another queue and this time an even longer queue and I´am not the only one walking by only to notice that this is the transfer security queue and walking back to the end to line in.
No, that´s definitely not what I´am looking for to spend my transfer time here in the queue, but what should you do?.
So, KBP it is and one more leg to go.
The Tripreporter.
