By bus further on the snowy apron tour for the terminal.
Up the stairs till the transfer desk where a nice young male agent confirmed, I´am on the right track and printed me a lounge invitation. Nice service here.
No one else around, strange, all the other pax from the Istanbul service headed out for arrivals or domestic connections.
Two passport check counters staffed, not a minute to wait and also at security, too.
And another minute later I´am back downstairs in the gate area with my onward terminal part reachable through some long corridors.
Well, call it hassle free here in Moscow SVO.
And I hope the screen is as hassle free as possible, too,
with the previous circumstances
No, not that it feels like I´am in Russia, no way!
The goal is "Galaktika" right now and no, not that it feels like Russia, too
No way, absolutely no way!
The terminal is spacious, clean and every possible window shows me these white stuff out there
AF twice, now that´s also interesting
The Baltic guy´s are on the run
Not that many pax here in this area
And not that funny times with AZ for FCO and also KL pax for AMS are called to the gate and I´ve overheard a loud discussion with the flight cancelled
Well, this is me according to the colours
Snow removal is the biz here today but it seems the russian guy´s know the way
For a snowy pushback
Well, here we see VP-BMF, also known as "Grigory Shelikhov", the A320 like on schedule.
In the air and around with SU since 11.12.2008. 53 planes on type are in the fleet. New to the log it is and leg no. 108 on type.
Incidents?. Not in Russia, I told you!
More and more flights and pax leaving
Ah, russian style catering it is!
It goes more and more bright, at least in theory!
Time for me to go now, too
And it´s definitely winter wonderland here
Gate 37, down a couple of stairs and ready to leave
"Международный аэропорт Шереметьево Sheremetyevo International Airport".
10.10 am, 20 minutes late by "Aeroflot". Snow all the way at 2 negative degrees and departure from the 3700 meters "Two-Five-Left".
5.10 hours, now that´s definitely longhaul on the A320!
The cabin looks like good with the dark blue leather seats, but when you go en detail it isn´t that really clean and also the legroom is not that impressive.
But the load is nevertheless very close to 100%.
Mostly russian vacationeers and also a couple of "bizinessmen"!.
And of course, me in the last row, 25 D/E/F, lucky this time
The heavily used safety card
Cockpit crew is from Russia, the "Pilot" with a nice welcome during boarding.
Slow, very slow taxi and it takes ages till we reached the runway. He is several times on the mike with weather and delay updates and also several times inflight. Well done. Routing is via Rostov, Yerevan and all over Iran.
De-iced we are, lets go now swiftly
The snow removal squad
Rossiya and the Antonov 148. Good to have this type in the log
Cabin crew is one young and nice male,
one middle aged guy, ok,
two women, one middle aged and ok
and well, call her Miss Aeroflot, young, cute, dark blonde short hair, we had some good chat on the way, really nice
Parked for longer?
Up we are finally
Cloudy it is, but not that long
Service is ok here, at least the vegs and the packed stuff
Snowy peaks, here we are again
And some dry valleys
All the way along the clouds
The pilot knows the way hopefully above Iran till the gulf.
An interesting feeling after lots of gulf travel always from the north, this time from the east
Approach and turning above the city
"مطار دبي الدولي Dubai International Airport" welcomes me at the 4447 meters runway "Three-zero-Left". 20 minutes late, what means 3.45 pm, 28 degrees and sunny it is.
Interesting colours at the gate
Pakistani stuff, too
Immigration is busy to say the least and after some 15 minutes in a very slow moving queue with just a few, but anyway complicated to handle immigrant workers ahead, I´ve had enough and decided to join another row without the southern asian guys ahead. And just by surprise after 5 more minutes I´am good to enter Dubai with the other queue handled just one more Indian guy at the same time, strange.
Metro Dubai, the red line shuttles me for Union and the green one till Abu Baker Al Siddique. The hotel is located directly beside the station. Ok, it´s fixed this way!.
The Traders Dubai by Shangri-La
A really nice welcome from an middle aged asian woman.
My room is prepared, top floor as requested
For sure an ok place to stay the night
Enough for today!. Really?. Ok, just a couple more pics coming up with the next story. And this time usually well informed sources told me about just a few flights out of DXB on these also nowadays really special equipment, well, western style this time. Call it the main reason to take exactly this service and lucky me, it works without changes!:
Ahem, this is more a rocket than a plane, but it doesn´t fly as far as I know, this one does!:
Here are the conclusions:
1.)Turkish Airlines STR-IST: A full and sleepy early evening.
2.)Aeroflot IST-SVO: A shaky nightshift for winter wonderland.
3.)Aeroflot SVO-DXB: As comfy as possible on the A320 longhaul.
До свидания,
Do svidaniya,
Take care.
The Tripreporter
